A Liberty tour helicopter and a small plane collided over the Hudson River today. Nine people are believed to be dead. Rescue workers called it a “not survivable” accident. So far they have recovered two bodies.

My heart dropped when I heard this news, because my friend is a helicopter pilot. I just got off the phone with him–he picked up on the 5th ring. Whew!

He said he was in the air, near the crash when it happened. I talked to him for less than a minute to see that he was okay, so I have no details.
