Sigur Rós with Björk – “Gobbledigook” Live

(“Gobbledigook” Live at Naturra)
“Gobbledigook” is the greatest song ever! Right now we have this piped into the stereo in our apartment, and me, my lady friend, and the pizza and Chinese delivery guys are dancing like nuts!
Join us! Come on!
“La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, al, la, la . . .”

Larry Wright – Street Bucket Drummer

I inserted the above video of Larry Wright in this story post: Forces of Heaven and Hell . . . I had been looking for a Civil War drum solo video, but couldn’t find one that fit the sound I had heard. So I decided to use Larry. I’ve seen him playing countless times over the years. His beats are usually knocking [...]

The Chameleons – Monkeyland

(Studio version)
The Chameleons are one of my favorite bands. I was lucky enough to see them live in NYC on one of their reunion tours a few years back. In ‘94 I also saw the lead singer’s band, Mark Burgess and the Sons of God in Hoboken, NJ at a club called Maxwell’s.

So It Is Written by Savage Republic

I love the sound of this band. It’s very unique. It’s called tribal-industrial-art-punk.
“So It Is Written” is from the album, Jamahiriya. I have one of the original pressings on vinyl.

I included another great song by Savage Republic in this story post: That Damned South Street!
Check out their wesbite: Savage Republic

NEW YORK – SEX PISTOLS

(“New York” live)
There are loads of great, great punk rock bands. Sex Pistols were the best. But you know that. That’s all I have to say. I gotta go–running and screaming like a madman out into the NYC night!!!

Noel Gallagher sums up The Smiths

The below interview with Noel Gallagher is pretty darn funny. If you’re a Smithy, you will love it. He aptly sums up the qualities that made The Smiths, in my opinion, one of the best bands of all time.
I was supposed to see them at Radio City, but as I remember the gig was cancelled.

The Ramones – Rockaway Beach “Live”

I’ve only read about fifteen Stephen King novels and went to five or six Ramones concerts. I’m embarrassed by both of those stats.
I remember one time when I saw The Ramones at L’amours in Brooklyn and got thrown out for one reason or another. The funny thing was that I had hardly landed on the sidewalk when the exit door on [...]

Yo-Yo Ma vs. Rostropovich

Here are two versions of the Prelude from Bach’s Cello Suite No. 1. Yo-Yo Ma’s version above shows off his interpretive skills. In the video below Mstislav Leopoldovich Rostropovich plays it by book. I love them both.

The Clash – Straight To Hell “Live”

This is a fantastic version of “Straight to Hell” by The Clash. They performed it at the US Festival in Glen Helen Regional Park, CA in May 1983.  The lyrics are fantastic. Check them out at the bottom of this post.

Peaceful NYC Waterfall Video

I was walking from South Street by the Seaport over toward the J.P. Morgan Building when I passed the above waterfall.
I quickly pulled out my Alfred Hitchcock “hat,” whipped out my camera, and went to work. I hope you like my film.
The music is by the awesome Irish choir Anúna. The song is called The Blue Bird.
The picture [...]
