Ramones Live at CBGB’s

It wasn’t such a big deal if your band played at CBGB’s. Getting a show was pretty easy as long as you didn’t mind going on stage at 12:45 am on a Sunday night. The key was to bring in a decent crowd so you would get a call back.

I remember one night when one of the bands I was in had a huge pre-show party. We bought tons of beer and alcohol. Half the people were too drunk to make the show and our guitar player said he blacked out on stage and the next thing he knew it was morning. Suffice to say, we made about a gazillion mistakes. The four of us still laugh about it to this day.

The best thing about playing there was that you got quality live tape, direct from the mixing board.

I think the first show I ever played in a band was at CBGB’s. I can remember how the second we started playing it was blistering loud. I’ll never forget that feeling. It was soooooooooo good.
